Brief - Orchha is one of the amazing historical city in all over India in respect to rich architecture. Once you reach to the arena you will find everything is so magical. Within a short area you will get to see a lot which you find very much surprising. The architecture of Orchha fort, Jahangir Mahal, Ram Raja Mahal, Chaturbhuja temple and Orchha chatries are totally beyond your expectation. The architecture are entirely made up on solid stone and it causes the entire premises so cold inside. Even if you won't find much breeze in the city but if you connect with some window of those architecture, it will refresh you the most by breeze shower all over your body. This part is absolutely amazing. Suppose you are getting tired and exhausted while climbing up the stairs inside the palaces or temple, you can get refreshed by it's own mechanism.

Main attraction

The main attractions of Orchha are Orchha fort, Jahangir Mahal, Ram Raja Mahal, Chaturbhuja temple and Orchha chatries. None of those you can dare to miss. Each of those carries huge architectural values which will blow your mind. You will feel like talking 1000 of pictures and it never ends. For Orchha fort you may take guide if you wish. They charge for cameras in a weird manner, you have to deal with it.

How to access all

Well you can easily access all by walking itself as all the architectures are well connected and nearly situated.

Entry fees

For Orcha fort, Chaturbhuja temple and Orchha chatries you have to get the ticket from fort entry point, for that you have to pay only 50 rs or something.

If you want to enjoy light and sound which is absolutely amazing and not so similar like other light and sound show, for that you have to pay like 100 rs per head. I don't think you have to pay for any other thing as such.

Food of this city

Well in respect to food, most of the places in Orchha are Veg specially. Lot of foreign tourists get assembled in this area, so they maintain less spicy traditional veg food most of the cases.
Few restaurants and hotels are there nearby the temple area, they serve rice combo and dhosa or idli stuffs or parathas... Local street food shops serve samosa, puri sabji and jelibi in morning time...
Well I can suggest you one thing for sure i.e. sweets (Pera) in temple areas, you cannot miss guys.. I have had the best pera so far trust me. They sell it in kg and you can take it to your home as it lasts for 3/4 more days. All sweets are so fresh and amazingly good.

Market

The temple area is a good marketing for all the tourists and remember they sell everything in high price as most of the cases they find outsiders. You have to bargain after all.

Light and sound show

I must tell you one thing about the light and sound show in Orchha fort, this creates an ambiance which will take you to the ancient time. It tells you the story of love, betrayal, trust and compassion of Mughal empowerment and make you visualize every character they narrate. They set up the glorious light effects all over the show ground and you are going to sit on the same ground under the open sky. That continues for 45 min, in Hindi and English language respectively. The only issue I found, you have to bear a few mosquito bites while watching the show.ha ha ha. But don't miss that show. It starts around 6 pm. Get the information from the ticket counter of Orchha fort.

Betwa River

One of the most precious attraction of Orchha is Betwa river. It flows it's own way that is natural but you will find the eternal peace if you sit in the evening on the rocks besides the river. You get to see the view of Orchha chatries, you get to chant the aarties nearby temples which held in the evening only. There is a river ghat in front of Orchha chatries, you can take bath, also you can avail boating or rafting (Till September end it will be closed due to high tide, You can approach after 15 October) into the river. Reflection of Orchha chatries in Betwa river from the opposite bank is mesmerizing. Be aware of monkeys around you. Don't carry plastic bags which can be suspected as food which they snatch from your hand and go away. Personally it happened to me. But I did not carry any food rather it was my camera....lol.

What else you can avail!

You can also visit Pachamadia, Shikargah, Jhantur town, Nature trial in Orchha wildlife sanctuary, bi-cycle tour etc. All are within 5 km each. If you have car you can avail all the places in one single day.

Orchha wildlife sanctuary

As I have experienced this I can share my story on that. Well It will take hardly half day if you start around 7 am. You will find one ticket counter for nature trails and bicycle ride board outside of wildlife sanctuary. But I found the counter is abandoned. Only the adventurous people wish to experience this. If counter is not open, you can talk to the caretaker or in charge of the forest and you will find them in houses beside the ticket counter. Mind it you have to talk very wisely and politey. You have to convince them as you really wish to visit the nature trial. They will open the forest gate for you. From here your journey will start.

The more you go deep into the forest, more you feel the thrill. The forest in absolutely calm and it will take you to the another isolated world gradually. Don't get scared just go on. You will find peacock and monkeys here and there. Take a stick in your hand and follow the red stony trial. After 2 km of walk you will find the road is getting divided in two ways. One is going to Panchmari (1.5 km) and another is Jontur tower (3 km). I have chosen Panchamari as i was running out of time. Sometimes this wildlife was presenting me some amazing landscape which is entirely virgin and the pattern you can barely find somewhere else. I followed the trial, my heart was panting as I was alone. I heard Chital deer, Sambar dear, Nilgai, Sloth bears are there. I was really scared about sloth bear to be very frank. But I was expecting to see some animals at least. Suddenly I found Nilgai from far. I did not know they are so shy but i somehow managed to take pictures. They were very sensitive by sounds. Again I start walking. I was expecting to go at the end point but mobile network was not working at all so i wondered how far it would be more. But finally when I reached Panchamari, I found this place is heaven. It was so calm and silent. One caretaker room was there but no one was there that time. I found few Grey hornbills flying around and many other birds are chirping. I sat for sometimes and took rest. Taken few amazing picture. I wish someone I love were there with me. ha ha ha.... Joke apart, the beauty of this place is just breathe taking. I had to return so I came back. I bid thank to the humble person who opened the gate for me. He did not demand money from me but I wished to hand over him 50 rs with love...
