More Information: Amadpur

Amadpur used to be a large territory in Burdwan history, then times come and it has given birth of Memari which is now a days adjacent with Amadpur. That is why Amadpur consists of many jamindar houses and old Terracotta temples. Till dates the houses and temples are found even though the condition of those architectures are going to be ruined. All the spots are nearby except Banagram ashram. So on a tour circle one can finish visiting all the places.

The beauty of the village, people, houses, fields, crops are so beautiful and pleasant in winter specially. You get to see potato cultivation all over in winter, which gives your eyes relaxation. There are two ashrams Amadpur which is worth mentioning 1. Paramananda ashram/ Banagram ashram. 2. Nishanka mahasamsan. The environment of both places are really very peaceful, you can't miss any of those. Except that you should visit Baghbari, Choudhury bari nat mandir/ thakur dalan.

Saat Deul

Among seven deuls in West Bengal, Saat deul is one of those beautiful architectures which follows the style of Orrissan Rekha deul and presently maintained by IAS. The road inside the paddy field through which you have to pass is so beautiful. The deul is worth watching by it's shape and design which follows Pancharatna style. The entire area is well maintained and the garden looks very beautiful in season.

Planning

Make a proper sequence to visit the places without harassment.

  • Finish visiting Amadpur within 10 am in the morning. Go to Bagbari and adjacent ashram first. On the way to Bagbari you will find total 3 terracotta temples on the way, do visit immediately. Then come to Choudhury bari and visit temples, dol mancho, Anandamoyee temple. Better you communicate and request Mr. Shiladitya Chaudhuri (+91 9831031183 | +91 9836731183) about your visit. You can visit their website http://www.heritageamadpur.com/ Main attraction of this heritage house is "Thakur dalan" which remains closed, by request you have to convince them so that you can visit this. After Choudhury house visit Nishanka Ashram/ Nishanka Mahasamsan, Kalpataru Siddha bot Tala. Keep this in mind, this is a really beautiful and peaceful place. Must visit.
  • After you finish visiting this places, start journey towards Banogram ashram/ Paramananda ashram. it is around 8 km away from Amadpur. You have to move towards Paharhati more, then turn left and move towards Jabui village. Keep asking people or search in google by "Paramananda Mission, District Purba Burdwan", you can get the direction. This is another beautiful place to visit and covered a huge area. Take some times and visit well. They organised mid-day meal, you must try it, They provide coupon of 20 rs.
  • After you finish visiting this place move ahead towards Kestapur Memari. You will find two terracotta temples again where till now they worship Lord Shiva. The value of terracotta is again remarkable but due to the lack of maintenance both temples are getting abandoned.
  • The last destination will be Saat Deul. You should move as per "How to go" section for route guidance.

Points to remember

  • To visit the jamindar houses you have to be very patience and decent enough to get the attention from them, then only you can go inside and explore.
  • Existing members don't like people from outside due to many bad experience, so you have to be careful about your behavior.
  • If you wan toto visit during Durgapuja, you are welcome.
  • Don't pluck flowers from any garden or ashram.
  • Don't shout or create mess in any of the places.
  • Take less selfie, try to understand the value of the place. Because history of Amadpur is vast.
