Well, people call it Bichitrapur, but this is actually Subarna Island. Bichitrapur is the name of the village from where you will get boat and the destination will be Subarna Island. It is actually a mangrove filled coastal area which falls under Odisha. One can stay in Bichitrapur itself if he/she is seeking some calm destination for vacation. you can book the guesthouse from https://www.ecotourodisha.com/ Otherwise people can stay in Digha and hire bike or car from Digha itself or Talshari to visit the place. Pretty simple.
Take the first trip in early morning for Subarna Island. Remember around 9 am the high tide enters into the mudflats, then only the boat starts their trip. During the season, there will be huge rush and chaos of visitors. Also if you go late, you will not be able to enjoy the island for long as the island will be drowning soon due to high tide.
This is an absolute zone for bird lovers. You will get many species like Eurasian curlew, great egret, sand pipers, plovers, collared kingfishers, blue tailed bee eater, blacked capped kingfishers etc. As I mentioned while returning take village routes to get more birds if you are interested.
A guy named Nantu from Talshari, who provides bike in good rate. Actually they have a team who take care of Bichitrapur trip like if some people cant even ride bike they take responsibilities to pick you up from anywhere near by Digha and take you there to Bichitrapur and also return you back. Or you can make your own trip by hiring bike from him. But yes he is very friendly guy to roam with. You can call him in +91 6370485132
We visited in April 2019. That time the boat cost was 1200 for 6 people and 1400 for 8 people. Basically the tourist capacity inside a boat is 6 to 8.
