More Information: | This is basically a day tour destination where you can explore various Bengali culture and Bengal history. People who love to explore old temples and architecture of Bengal or any landed aristocrat, that's the right catch for them. This day tour won't let you down. Anandamoyee temple Sukharia, a quaint village between Balagarh and Somra Bazar railway stations in Hooghly district, has the distinction of being the site of some of the finest temple architecture of Bengal. Founded in 1763 AD, Anandamoyee Temple houses the main temple of Anandamoyee Maa, which is surrounded by 12 smaller temples. Although the present structure of the temple was completed in 1813 AD, few terracotta panels are still in good condition. The other notable temples of Somrabazar are Harasundrai Temple built in 1814 AD and Nistarini Temple built in 1847 AD. Mustafi houses You should visit Radhajibon Mustafi house and Laxmi Das Mustafi House during Durga puja to attend festive occasion, to mix with rural culture and get mingled with their custom. During summer you can come down for mango garden around this place. You can buy those from landlord of the mango garden directly. Radhajibon Mustafi house and Laxmi Das Mustafi houses are 300/400 years old. So most of the parts of those house are ruined and abandoned due to lack of maintenance. Descendant of those houses mostly stay out of city due to work, hence they handed over the responsibilities to caretakers of the house. During Durga puja they come over and attend the rituals. Truly those constructions are so impressive and valuable, I love the structures, colors, designs and all. People live keep dream to live in this kind of houses in their entire life. I wonder if these won't get renovated then those will get damaged very soon. And if it does, the archaeological value will get lost. So what is the way to protect those heritage which are getting oblivion day by day? |
