How to go: | Well for a tourist this is very tedious and non reliable to avail local transport, why because the frequency of local transport is rare and it will only drop you to the main road from where you have to go inside the villages, for that you may not get another option but hire something else. I would strongly suggest to hire car (Don't hire toto till the road condition turns well). From Patuli railway station, Singi is around 9 km by Koichar-Kalna road and Sribati is another 3 km from Singhi. People said accessing this place from Memari or Burdwan side will be easier if you are coming by car.. Talking about local transport, one can hire auto or toto from Patuli railway station and visit the places. |

Khirgram
|

More Information: | Singi Singi is a very beautiful village in Burdwan which is almost covered with crops and fields including Paddy, Mustard, Onion, Spring onion, Palm, Pumpkin and many more. The village itself is very pleasant, the scenario inside the village, it's people, houses, roads, carts hold the beauty of it. You will get to see doubled floored mud house, group of kids playing into the field, some of them are playing with cattle, some of them will be weaving at you, smile and feel shy. In one word, it is absolutely amazing to see their activities. There are few pottery in this village, you can go to their house and see the entire work process. Talking to the village people will show you the simplicity of their mind and lifestyle. Even though people are getting modern with a sloth flow, still few activities they never want to change, they love to live life with the same simplicity and momentum. You can walk through the village and give time to experience the beauty of it. SribatiSribati is an adjacent village, which is 3 km away from Singi. Chandrapara Shiva temple complex contains ancient architecture throughout the village. The jaminder house contains 3 terracotta temples along with thakur dalan where every year they celebrate Durga puja. Talking about the temples, it contains fantastic terracotta art through out,, every piece of work is remarkable and well structured. StayYou can stay in Santiniketan Homestay which is owned by Samrat Banerjee, the home stay is on the way to Singi besides the main road itself. To get the best flavor of it contact him directly. Whom you can hireYou can hire Sujoy Sarkar (+91 8116807993) who is very gentle guy and keep patience through out the whole journey. He has two options of vehicles i.e toto and car. Do not avail toto until and unless the road condition gets well. Ask him and then hire correctly. He can arrange car as per your desire. I strongly recommend to take car so that you can cover all the spots without any harassment. You can include Khirgram Jogatta Kali temple also which is 17 km away from Sribati. |

Posted on: 23rd Sep, 2020You have portrayed a very simple view of rural Bengal in such a way that a sweet story is woven between the bank's of dry river, the yellow teeth of the smiling children, the muddy fingers of the pottery maker, the growing dust on the old architecture. All are stories with different colour and flavour. Now I set this place as a MUST TO GO. Thanks!!!
