How to go: | Way 1 : Science City-Bagnan-Kolaghat-Ashari more (take right and go straight and cross Kansabati)-Bikrampur-Malighati (Google will show this route, but it is better to avoid due to bad road condition after Ashari more) till Malighati bamboo bridge. Even thought the vehicle can pass through the bamboo bridge but it is too risky for the driver to manage crossing. (119 km approx.) Way 2 (Recommended) : Science City-Bagnan-Kolaghat- take right turn from Mechogram Haat bazaar and take Ghatal-Panskura Road towards Ghatal-Shyam sundarpur and turn sharp left -target Keshpur-Daspur road and navigate your destination in google map. (122 km approx.). This is way better road than the first one. Local transport : You have to catch a bus from Medinipur to Ghatal Medinipur via Narazol. Distance 45 km will take 1 hour 30 minutes. You can also catch a bus from Ghatal. Distance 25 km. Time 1 hour. You can also take any bus from Panskura railway station to Ghatal, get off at Bakultala stop about 10 km before Ghatal and reach Narajol 15 km away by taking a bus to Medinipur. |

More Information: | Narajole is a traditional ancient town under Daspur 1 block of Ghatal subdivision of West Midnapore district. Surrounded by rivers, this town is of special historical, cultural and archeological importance. The town has a tradition of architecture of more than 50 temples including 610 year old Rajbari, Jalhari, Hawamahal, Shibalaya, Rasmancha. Brief of history The oldest generation of this Rajbari was Uday Narayan Ghosh. Then gradually Pratap Narayan, Yogendra Narayan, Bharat Narayan became the head of the family. Kartikram Ghosh, the 5th generation of this royal family, has been entitled as "Roy" by the Bengal Sultan Suleman Karmani. Hence the next generations has been carry forwarded with the same surname. After that Karthik Ram Roy, Joy Mani Roy, Shyam Sing Roy become the ruler of the raj family. In 1596, 8th generation Balbant Roy has got the title 'Khan' by Nabab Najeem. Afterwards Balbant Roy become Balbant Khan and the same title carry forwarded by next generations. The era of Mohan lal Khan was on top for literature, poetry, art, sangeet, dance. Gradually Chuni lal Khan, In next generation Mahendra lal Khan had contributed many things like education, poetry, literature etc. for this dynasty. Total 19 generation of this royal family has been owned this rajbari for more than 570 years. Kazi Najrul Islam, Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra, Khudiram Bose, Sadhak Balananda Brahmachari, Chittaranjan Das, Rishi Arabinda and many more legends has been to this place and due to touch of their feet this place is considered as the holy place for Narajole. Hawa Mahal Hawa Mahal is a beautiful architectural monument founded by King Mohanlal Khan. It is known as Champabagan to the local people. In the distant past, there were a variety of flowers from abroad. These were the habitats of many species of birds, deer, rabbits, and peacocks. In the palace of Hawa Mahal, the scent of wine used to resound on the night of full moon, but today that palace has become abandoned and stands silently. Fortunately, the Heritage Commission of the Government of West Bengal took over the responsibility of its preservation in 2008. Rasmancha This stage of Narajole is one of the best antiquities of the district. On the second floor of the 40-foot-high three-storied brick building, 12 Deul Ratnas and on the third floor, Deul Ratnas of the same style were made. The stage is surrounded by a porch with a bypass and an entrance. After the reign, a Deul Ratna has been abandoned for a long time. At present, some renovations of the stage have been made possible by the initiative of Narajole Archaeological Preservation Committee. And for the last 30 years, under the management of this committee and with the cooperation of the villagers, Rasutsab is celebrated every year and fairs are held for a few days on that occasion. Shiva temple To the west of the temple there are six Atchalariti Shivalayas. It is known from a temple inscription that the temple was established by Braj kishore Khan, the fifth son of Mohanlal Khan, in 165 Shakabda. In addition to the regular puja in the temples, puja and jaldhala are performed on Shivchaturdashi and Charak Sankranti. Jalhori Lankagarh In 1817, Raja Mohanlal Khan built this unique palace for the summer residence of the kings at a cost of Rs. 60,000 in a large pool. Many foreign tourists flock to Jalhori to see this remarkable architectural monument of the district. Festival Rash Purnima, Durga Puja, any weekend. Plan for Narajole Have an early visit to this place so that you can be a part of Bhog Prashad of Gobindajiu Temple in afternoon. It is absolutely blessing to be a part of it. Before that you can visit Rasmancha and Shiva temples which are very near to the rajbari area. After or before lunch you can have a tour to the whole rajbari area. If you are in a group you can be a part of small seminar regarding the history of the rajbari from Sandip Khan. Talk to them regarding this.
