| How to go: | By train Any express or passenger train which is going towards Dhanbad, get into it and you can get down to Barakar or Kumardubi (Nearest). Best train is Black Diamond as usual and it takes around 3 hours. Train cost will be from 90 to 300 rs., depends on the class you are availing. From there hired auto to reach Maithon. They will ask around 200 bucks and it takes around 45 min. to reach. By road Get Volvo or super fast bus from Esplanade to reach Asansol. By an overnight journey you can reach there. Otherwise you can reach Asansol by train, then avail local bus service to reach Maithon. |

Where to Stay? There are many hotels and Panthaniwas in Maithon. People might have heard about govt. accomodation i.e. Majumdar Niwas in which one required source to get booking. If you have friends who works under DVC or govt. sector, you may talk to them for booking. This is one of the best place to stay in Maithon because of it's location and environment. You can also accommodate yourself in Maithon forest guest house (Another beautiful location), Daya guest house, Youth hostel, Hotel Santiniwas, WBTDC Maithon Lodge and many more. Animal Lover ? There is a joint for animal lovers which you must visit on the way to Panchet. That is Mubaraka's snake saving park. There you will find not only snakes collected by him but other animals and birds. Ticket price is only 20 rs. Go visit and keep remember one thing in mind, If Mubaraka is available into his place, go interact with him. You will get to know many unknown facts regarding local animals and the place. Transport Well! If you want to visit nearby places like Garpanchakot, Baranti, Jaychandi, Panchet or any other places, you can get auto standing near by your hotel, you can hire it. Bus is not such a good option for you. So try to avoid it. |
