Jhargram was not a tourist destination before 3 years. But now a days it become one of the hot list for all travelers. Jhargram is getting developed day by day in respect to road and constriction. Tourism is also getting flourished at this point of time. So if you want to spend a fresh weekend in some rural and off beat place, visit Belpahari and surroundings.

Best time to visit

Best time to visit is July to January. This is the place where you will find a huge amount of lush greenery, so in Monsoon you will definitely enjoy it. And if it is winter, no need to explain it's freshness.

Where to stay

Well there are very few homestay in remote location of Kakrajhor, Charmurti is one of those. Except that you will find few more homestays in Belpahari and Jhargram area. You will find market area too except Kakrajhor where you can purchase necessary things, food shop and market.

Things to remember

To visit the whole Kakrajhor and Belpahari, you have to plan for 2 and half days at least. Most of the spots are worth spending much time and it is better to choose the place morning, afternoon and evening basis. Few are good at morning, few for evening. Road is not good every where so keep buffer time in your hand. Don't go with google map every time, ask local people for roadmap. Always keep plenty of water and dry foods with you because not all the time you will get food shop. Don't depend on local transport for this kind of destination. Either ride bike or hire car.

Charmurti Homestay

Charmurti homestay is situated at Kakrajhor and owned by Thakur Das Mahato (+91 8101953976) a shy and decent person from the village itself. You can call him for booking. Or else you can contact getlost eco travel (Shintu Bhattacharya 9836830342). Charge for one day including food is 1200 rs. Talking about Thakur Das Mahato, he does not get jelled up with outsider so easily. But you have to talk to him in such a way so that he can mingled with you. Service wise this eco cottage is good. You will get food and other services at time. They keep the premises neat and clean. They also cultivate various vegetables in different season. As much as they can, they use those vegetables in cooking. They have total 3 big rooms which contains 5 beds each, a big toilet and a big attached Varanda. They also have separate hut for cooking and dining. Outside of the premises you can park your car safely. They also have enough space for lawn in front of the cottages.

Surroundings

The local area is a very remote village of Kakrajhor. People cultivate in day time and process paddy and do other job at night. Women are much more active in this village. If you visit their home to see their work, they will welcome you with warmth. They will talk to you about their life and our life. Even though their poverty level is very high, still they love their life and they are happy being into their village. They clearly tell they don't like city or city life. You will learn from them how to love life and be happy having only necessary things in life. The village is covered mostly with Sal tree and their soil; is red. You will also find very few paddy field and those are being cultivated one time a year. I must say one thing, go visit Kakrajhor, you will love this place. Talk to the villagers, you will feel different.
