More Information: | Jajahatu is one of the extremely offbeat destination in Purulia. This place is full of dams and hills. Some of those are not in use as a proper dam and some of those does. Every single dam is somehow associated with a hill beside of that. So it is very common that while taking photograph you will get the reflection of hill into the water. Obviously there are season to visit this place but mostly I recommend Monsoon and Winter. Season Well In Monsoon it becomes lush green everywhere. That gives you peace in your eyes. Somehow I feel that green is very different In respect to its vibrancy, freshness and most importantly the smell. The dam water remains muddy in this season. The Village Road creates an extraordinary beauty by its peach dark colour and the greenery around. In few areas you will find only Palash tree, in few areas you will find Bamboo, Saal, Nim and many more. In Monsoon specially you will find various flowers bloomed here and there. Most of those are wind and unknown. Seemed like Mother Nature decorating its every single part. Even though the dam areas in Monsoon become so muddy but somehow you can manage walking around. All you need one car for sure. Take umbrella and cap with you. On the other hand, Winter may not gives you that much of greenery but the dam water colour turns blue along with the skyline. That is also another beauty of nature. You will get more flower varieties and more birds around. Accessing dam area will be more easier as no water logging will be there. Bon Pahari eco stay Talking about the staying, in Jajahatu there are only one homestay available for now i.e. Bon Pahari Homestay which is situated at Khamar village. Remember one thing, the landmark is Sidraliya hill. There is a village high school called Khamar high school, you don’t need to cross it. 600 m before you will the homestay in right hand. Homestay cannot be seen from the road, you have to move inside a bit. The caretaker will take care of assistance standing on the roadside. As there is no internet connection except BSNL and JIO, you have to set the map on Google while driving on main road. Set the map by the name of homestay. Contact Number: Dipankar / Sanjay : +91 9331845220/ +91 9830445834 Direction Remember one thing, always take Ichag more as the gateway of the homestay. After crossing Jhaldah market you have to move around 7 km to reach Ichag more. You will get it in map and pin the location on it. From Ichag more take left and drive around 6.7 km to reach your destination. You will find a big rock in left that is Sidraliya rock. The homestay is right in front of it. We have taken the wrong route as it was totally unknown. As mobile network was unavailable we were unable to find our destination. Another mistake we have done was we did not take Ichag more which approaching the place, instead we took another left turn as per map way before Ichag more. Even though we could reach our destination somehow but the narrow road conditions and lank of guidance killed us all. We approached it exact opposite direction of the right route(Ichag More). So first we got Khamar high school on right then we drive around 600 m to reach our destination where Sidraliya rock was on right and our homestay was on left. So follow the right route. Brief about homestay The homestay contains a rectangular area where they made a huge gate and install a small all around the entire area. So it is very safe. There are 2 big rectangular bases tents which can accommodate 4/5 people and another hexagonal based tent which may not be installed all the time but as per the volume of guests they install it. It has another 2 cottages adjacent which has one entrance. Each cottage can accommodate 3 or max 4 people if one can adjust. It has attached toilet of each room. Accommodate wise it is pretty good. After entering to the campus it has dining area on immediate left. There are few bamboo made bench or chilling area where you can sit with groups and chill out. The campus is full of seasonal flowers and few fruits trees. It has an entirely eco friendly environment inside the campus. Activities around Dams and hills Things to remember is that Layek and Lakrakudi dam are walking distance from the homestay and you would love to visit that anytime by your own. Kuki, Marubhasa, Norohora is a bit far, you have to take a ride for that. Layek and Marubhasa is good for taking bath and fishing. Every single dam is worthy to spend long time than expected. Don’t just go see and comeback.. Give time to get the actual flavour of it. That is the main activity of these places. Another main activity is to ride on top of the Chemtu hill. With guide which can be arranged by the homestay people you must take time for one more day to reach at the highest peak of Purulia. It takes around 3 hours to climb up and it is not at all next to impossible for any of the age. Which moving down it takes around 1 hour only. For this activity local village people will work as a guide. Start your journey as early as possible. Keep water and dry foods with you. From the top you will get to see Khoirabera and Marubhasa dam all together. It will mesmerise your day. This is the place from where one can easily access Ayodhya, Muruguma, Khoirabera, Irgunath Jain temple etc. |
