More Information: | In West Bengal there are many art or production villages which are unknown to many people. But once you visit their house or villages you will see lot of unique stuffs going on. Like what product they are making, what is the procedure, how many families are associated with this art etc. That surely amaze you and feels you proud in your state such amazing things are going on in houses. Gangpur is one of those where most of the households are rabri (sweets) maker. Even thought most of the houses use same technique of making rabri but there are variation in respect to taste. Apart from rabri few households are making "swarbhaja" i.e another sweets. Both sweets are very exclusive by it's taste. Price of rabri starts from 250 rs and ends with 400 rs per Kg. and swarbhaja are being sold per piece 10 rs. You can go visit inside their kitchen and see the process of making rabri. Most of the time in day time they make rabri and at night they make swarbhaja. Both process are very tedious job but they are being habituated as they are preparing it for 20 years. Most of the rabri maker has got the title called 'Balti'. Their sweets are being distributed through out Kolkata and nearby urban. I suggest visit at least 3/4 houses and talk to them. You will get to know different story. There are around 30 to 35 families who take part of this activity. Contacts
