More Information: | Shillong is the District Headquarter of East Khasi Hills District as well as the state Capital. It is a hill stations with unique natural scenic beauty which is an ideal resort throughout the year. The district is well connected with motorable roads throughout the length and breadth . The reason I said it will take 5 days for a traveler to explore Cherrapunji only, here i explain the schedule:
Well I must add, there are many more places and waterfalls to explore in Cherapunji, for that you have to spend more time and reschedule your itinerary. Elephant Falls One can easily visit Elephant falls as it is very much nearby to Shillong. The thick rocky built waterfalls will mesmerize you by its black rock and the environment. You will find various flora and fauna here and there around the waterfall. Pick time before it gets too dry. Mawsmai Cave A not so big cave but having extraordinary stone pattern. It is nearby Seven sisters falls. Amazingly decorated premises. You will get huge parking slot, many food and other shops inside the campus. Most importantly they did not make any artificial decoration or lighting inside the cave. You can easily spend 1.5 hours to explore this place. Double Decker Living Root Bridge This is one of the most beautiful trek i have ever done in my life. The entire trek is based on the arranged staircase. First it will go down, then you will find few plain land and foot bridge then again you will find inclined staircase. One way it takes around 2 hours and while coming back it takes around 2.5 hours. It will not be that hard for you unless you complete the whole journey by a singe day. Take 2 days time to explore the place because it is amazingly beautiful and you will have lot to explore. Once you start journey in the early morning from Nongriat, you will be amazed by beautiful birds and butterflies around the places. On the way you will also find huts and small houses of the local people, truly you will fall in love of the environment, gardens, flowers, yards and the local people. Cute little children's will wave you bye while walking down. Truly you will feel love. In some of the places you will find Orange tree and oranges in season. In the whole journey you will be surrounded by massive hills. Sometimes you will also notice some waterfalls coming down through hilly surface. It will look so tiny from far but again you will remember you might go in front of it and how big it was. NohKaLikai Falls There are two ways to visit this waterfalls. One is for normal tourists and another for trekkers. Normal tourists will watch it from far or better to say a view point from there one can take perfect picture. Another route is for trekker. They can explore the waterfall from the source of it. It is a bit hard trek but you will always remember once you have done it. There are also a trek route between Rainbow falls to NohKaLikai Falls. Adjust your time to visit the waterfalls in golden hours of November. I bet you will never find this kind of beautiful langscape and weather in all over India. Must try it. Dawki You should visit the album Dawki Mawlynnong - The cleanest village in Asia I will put description in a separate album... Best time to go October - November |
