More Information: | Bhitarkanika is a very popular destination in Odisha, this is also known as mini Mangrove of Odisha. If you compare with Sundarbans of West Bengal or Bangladesh it is very small. But my logic is who can visit the entire Mangrove? No one has that permission nor one can visit the entire area. So whatever Bhitarkanika is giving, it is more than enough for a traveler or explorer. The bio-diversity it shows, a nature lover will be stunt while exploring. Ample number of deer and salt water crocodile can be seen here and there, same as birds. As Estuary of Bhitarkanika is a bit less wide compare to Sundarbans, most of the time you will enjoy the beauty of Mangrove. Stay Either you stay in Gupti, or Chandbali or Dangamal. As we have run from Chandbali to Dangamal we found Aranya Nivas (OTDC) in road side location opposite to Chandbali ferry ghat. In Dangamal there are few guest house, between those we stayed in Bhitarkanika Forest Guest House which you have to book through www.ecotourodisha.com/ website. There are few other guest houses like Dangamala Nature Camps, Bhitarkanika, Nature Camp Bhitarkanika Retreat, Aranya Nivas etc. Bhitarkanika Forest Guest House A very well known and standard guest house which has been maintain by eco tourism Odisha, is covered with huge area along with Mangrove forest, ponds, wetland and dry land, having some specific number of accommodation which can only be booked via www.ecotourodisha.com/. Inside the campus you will find vast bio diversity, few lands are totally covered with lush Mangrove, you can take a walk through the jungle. In some other places you will find few ponds, lots of trees, and some small lakes for breeding Crocodile and research purpose. Inside the campus you will find deers are roaming freely as this land is a continuation of jungle. Beware of Indian Grey languor, those can snatch anything from you in search of food. They have a small Crocodile museum where they have collected skulls and bones of various animals for decade. This land is full of various birds like Indian Paradise Flycatcher, Brown Winged Kingfisher, Common Iora, Monarch, Woodpeaker, Cuckoo Shrike, Nightjar, Owls and many more. If you are interested in birding you can manage few caretakers by giving small amount of money, they will guide you to find birds. This land is also very famous of Fishing cats. By the help of local people you can have a tour at night for fishing cats. All you need to get information from caretakers where and how will you get to see those animals and birds. Frankly Dangamal is so beautiful place you need to spend at least 3 days at a time. Food In Chandbali you will get roadside food shop and hotels. But if you start your journey early morning from Chandbali, you will not get running shops open, but you can get good quality tea and some dry snacks. Better you take food with you. Special attraction
