More Information: |
I used to hear stories in my childhood about famous Kartik pujo held in Bansberia and Katwa. I used to think how does it feel like to roam around the pandals where only god Kartik belongs! That is a month after Durga Puja. Well when I grew up and found numerous videos on YouTube regarding this festival held in Kartik Purnima in November, I came to know the importance. People go crazy like hopping the pandals, celebrate the festival. It’s amazing to see the scenario. I won’t go with the history but my motive is to provide a glimpse of it. Anyone can easily hop all the pandals of Kartik puja in Bansberia by walking down the streets. First note all the pandals names and ask people about their location and mark it after you done hopping one by one. That’s the way. You can hire toto instead but most of the time they will make a round trip and that won’t satisfy your taste. Better take time, eat fast food and cover pandals one by one. Well you better go on the next day of Kartik Purnima specially if you are going from far like Kolkata. As you have to come back, so you better catch the train earlier from Bansberia. So you must finish it before 8 pm. So naturally you have to start hopping around 4. Because it will takes 3.5 hours around to cover it all by walking. So if you plan to visit on the first day of Karthik puja, trust me some of the pandals won’t be ready to display their decorations or they may be giving it a finishing touch of the pandals or inside upto 5/6 pm. So it’s better to go by the next day earlier and cover it all for them who wants to avail train as a transport. For them who are taking car, let me inform you, many of the routes remain no entry during the festival specially at night. So plan accordingly. Probably you can park your car and roam around by walk or toto then come back when ever you want. That can be another case. It’s very easy to find the location, just get down from the train and rush out if no 1 platform and go with the flow. You will find various food stalls and hotels for food which will call your appetite. Civic volunteers will be all around but ask for any location to local shops or people. Being a local members they known it all. Let me mention most of the club names so that you don’t miss them out.
