| Approximate size(adult): | A medium-sized thrush, about 21–23 cm long. Males have slaty-blue upperparts, yellow bill, and pale greyish underparts, while females are browner with less distinct coloration. The eyes are large and dark, typical of forest thrushes.

| Resident/ Migrate from: | A short-distance migrant, breeding in the Himalayan foothills and northern India, extending into Nepal and parts of western China.

| Migrate to: | In winter, it migrates southward to central, western, and peninsular India, often seen in gardens and wooded areas.

| Breeding season: | Breeds mainly from April to July. Builds a cup-shaped nest made of grass, roots, and mud, usually placed in trees or bushes. Lays 3–4 eggs, which are incubated mostly by the female.

| Breed in: | Prefers temperate forests, wooded slopes, and shrubby hillsides in the Himalayan region at elevations of 1,200–2,400 meters.

| Habitat: | During winter, frequents woodlands, orchards, gardens, and forest edges. It forages quietly on the ground, often in leaf litter, for insects and fruit.
