| Approximate size(adult): | A small sandpiper, about 13–15 cm long with a wingspan of 32–35 cm. It has brownish upperparts, white underparts, and distinctive white outer tail feathers visible in flight.

| Resident/ Migrate from: | Breeds in northern Eurasia, including Scandinavia, northern Russia, and Siberia. Migrates southward after breeding.
