Least Concern

Around 46–50 cm in length including tail; weighs about 90–120 g

Largely resident across its range; no evidence of long-distance migration

Non-migratory species; movements are local or seasonal depending on food availability

Generally from March to July, varying regionally with rainfall and temperature

Builds a shallow cup-shaped nest of twigs, roots, and grasses placed high in trees; clutch usually 3–5 eggs; both sexes share incubation and chick-rearing duties

Occupies a wide variety of habitats including open forest, scrub, cultivated areas, gardens, and urban parks; found from plains up to about 2000 m elevation

Omnivorous; feeds on insects, small vertebrates, fruits, nectar, and occasionally eggs and chicks of other birds; also known to scavenge human food waste
