| Approximate size(adult): | A small lark, measuring approximately 12–14 cm in length with a wingspan of about 22–25 cm. Males have a distinctive ashy-grey crown, black face mask, and black underparts. Females are pale brown with a more subdued coloration.

| Resident/ Migrate from: | Resident species across much of South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and parts of Nepal and Bangladesh.
