| Approximate size(adult): | About 27–28 cm in length; weight ~80–120 g. A medium-sized thrush with brown upperparts, distinctively scaly-patterned underparts (dark crescent-shaped markings on pale background), and a pale eye-ring. Tail is brown with faint barring. |
| Resident/ Migrate from: | Resident and partially migratory. Populations in northern and higher-altitude regions may move southward during winter. Found across South and Southeast Asia. |
