Brown-capped pygmy woodpecker
Muthyala Maduvu, Anekal, Karnataka
A very small bird was probably spotted in Muthyala Maduvu in Bangalore. While there may be a few other places where this bird can be found, anyone looking to spot it for sure should visit Pearl Valley, as it nests in a particular dead tree, and birders have already spotted it there.

A woodpecker obviously can't stay calm, but luckily, sometimes it stays still on the tree and looks at the same spot of wood. I wonder what it actually thinks at that time. Its brown head is clearly visible, and it is a fearless bird. One can get a very good picture as it doesn't move around bushes but instead stays on a bare tree.
